A letter to the editor from Rev. Kenneth Miyake from the Brain Memorial United Methodist Church, emphasizing the ”Importance of a Japanese nursing home” has been impacting the local Nikkei community. Recently, a tentative preparatory committee was organized, and on July 19, the first meeting will be held at 7:30 pm at the Japanese Community Service building at 1414 S. Weller Street in Seattle, to make the first steps for the project.

“Building a Japanese nursing home is the first priority topic to achieve for our community,” said to the committee. “With a strong request and desire from local organizations and individuals, we decided to hold the first meeting.”

The committee also asked local representatives and those who are interested in the issue to attend the meeting.

The first meeting will show a updated report on the project, collect voices from the community members and discuss the current issues, but focus on the primary goal of building a Nikkei nursing home in Seattle.
